MAC feel My Pulse Lipstick
Oh, my gosh, it’s happening! The annual coral migration has begun.

Every year around this time substantial flocks of corals migrate from their wintertime hideaways to makeup counters everywhere, gathering in large numbers wherever there are lip displays.

It’s one of my favorite things.

When the corals come back in spring and summer, it’s like, it reminds me that the world will keep turning… Frozen yogurt will keep tasting great, the real Housewives of My Butt will keep screaming nonsense at each other on Bravo, and RyGos will keep looking hot under pretty much all circumstances.

But some makeup lovers don’t get that fired up about coral. I have a pal who refuses to wear it on her lips because she says it makes her feel like a “South beach grandma” (her words).

Gotta be honest, I don’t get it (SERIOUSLY, how could YOU NOT love CORAL?!), but I can appreciate wanting to be different and going against the flow, which brings me to the four new lipsticks in the MAC temperature Rising collection.

From the left: altered Beige, Caliente, feel My Pulse and sheer Seduction
See that? No coral whatsoever. Instead, MAC went a riskier route with beige, violet and bronze, and you know what?

I think it works.

Feel My Pulse, a brilliant magenta violet with a Cremesheen finish
Caliente, a incredibly dazzle violet with a Dazzle finish

Sheer Seduction, a incredibly dazzle bronze with a Dazzle finish
Altered Beige, a creamy yellowish beige with a Lustre finish
Swatches from the left: altered beige (a creamy yellowish beige with a Lustre finish), sheer Seduction (a incredibly dazzle bronze with a Dazzle finish), Caliente (a incredibly dazzle violet with a Dazzle finish) and feel My Pulse (a brilliant magenta violet with a Cremesheen finish)

Sheer Seduction

I really can’t see any of these colors not looking good with a tan. It’s like their destiny. They’ve waited their entire lives for someone who applies bronzer just to answer the front door (um…not that I’d know anything about that), or for someone who spent the entire day at the beach, then went back to the resort for a disco nap and is now heading to an after-hours club/party.

To accentuate their summer style even more, MAC gave these their lightweight Cremesheen, Lustre and Dazzle lipstick formulas — nothing heavy or oppressive — and dressed ’em in limited edition packaging, while keeping their signature vanilla flavor and scent.

I’d like to give an extra shout-out to the two sparkly shades, violet Caliente and bronze sheer Seduction, for being fun, fun, fun!

Loaded with glitter and pigment, they nearly look metallic to me from a few feet away… think Halloween costume sexy robot (or your friend’s sci-fi-themed bachelorette party).

Best for: makeup lovers (and sci-fi fans) who like the unexpected, and gals who want some non-coral options to wear with summer time bronze, brown and gold smokey eyes.

Speaking of temperatures rising…

It was freakin’ hot here today. We nearly broke 90 degrees in Novato!

Even the soles of my feet were sweating this afternoon (too much info?).

Tabs, of course, was mad as hell, because when it’s great like this, he can’t be bothered with boring humans. All he wants to do is go outside.

He did NOT want to come back in after his walk.

Hope you stayed amazing today. Tomorrow’s Friday, huzzah!
